Dining at the Social Media Table-Storify Paper (Draft)

  1. Rhiana, you did a really great job on your Storify! I love the food theme and how it connects to your degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. You used perfect examples, and did a great job summarizing the areas where you were lacking and what you could have done to improve performance. I feel bad that I don’t have more suggestions for you; I thought you did a great job. For some reason, I’m not seeing your conclusion section at the bottom. It might just be you haven’t added that section to your draft or perhaps I’m not seeing it in your Storify because of a browser issue of something. But, if you are still working on that section, I’d love to hear how everything you learned in this course will be applicable in you as a professional career. Discussing the restaurant industry and how you are better prepared with the knowledge gained in this course will really bring everything full circle. Good luck!

  2. Bobbi Sue,

Thank you so much for looking over my paper! I know as discussion leader this week the emphasis is on my team but I wanted to get a little feedback from anyone who had a little time, so thanks again. Also, I had not put my conclusion in my paper yet because I want to analyze my work a little closer before drawing my closing thoughts. I do plan on speaking to how I plan on integrating the restaurant industry into my conclusion however. I will post my revision by Sunday night. If you see any grammatical errors or opportunities for improvement I am open to any critiques. I am queen of the run-on sentence and am currently in the process of fixing a few I have found.

    Thanks again,
    Rhiana

  3. Rhiana,

I love the creative title of your Storify; it encompasses your overall theme of your blog in addition to highlighting your reasoning for being in the program!

    Just a few suggestions:

I would add a little bit more to your analysis. While your graphics point out excellent statistics, I would dive a little deeper and being correlating those stats to your strategies; ie. you gained international views from adding hashtags and maximize your intended audience, how your referring sites led to increased views, how integrating Twitter and Pinterest posts drove traffic, etc. I think this will be a great additional piece for readers to gain a better understanding of how successful your strategy was.

I also noticed that you used a Twitter account for class that was created prior, meaning that you had mixed audiences for your tweets. I think a personal touch could be added to show how mixed audiences, or even how having a foundation, impacted the success of your Twitter campaign since most students created new accounts from scratch for the course.

Like Bobbi Sue suggested, and I know you are aware, of the conclusion piece. Just don't forget to add that in! I look forward to reading it!

    Great job!

I agree with you, I have a little expanding to do, I just wanted to dip my toes into the assignment so to speak. I will definitely incorporate all of your critiques into my revised paper.

  4. Hi Rhiana, awesome start on your Storify! I loved reading about your background and how you were drawn to Marketing. I think it’s great you’ll be able to combine all your degrees to move toward a specific career path.

I think it was great you recognized both the “good and bad” of your posts each week. This demonstrates all your learning experiences from the course. While you may not have seen so much traffic one week because you didn’t share on Pinterest, you knew the next week to include it and therefore saw an increase in traffic. It’s pretty cool to see how strong of a traffic driver it is!

Just a quick suggestion: I think it would be helpful if you looped your objectives back into your analysis section. Tying them in and comparing to your actually results will help demonstrate your success.

    Great job!

    1. Lindsey,

First off, thanks for reading my paper. Second, thank you for your great suggestion!

When I was writing my analysis I thought of doing something similar to give that section-and my paper- a well rounded analysis. I plan on expanding my analysis with all of the helpful suggestions I have received so far and will be sure to include this one as well.

      Thanks again,

      Rhiana

  5. Rhiana,

Thanks for sharing your insights on this blog. I like the way you personally and creatively developed your blog's theme and subtitles based on your history and personal interests. Since social media integration can allow for building personal brand equity, I felt that your blog carries a unique niche in our class.

Regarding ways to potentially enhance effectiveness, perhaps you can expound on the conclusion and how the lessons learned in this class will apply to you now and in the future professionally. Also, since social media integration fosters two way communication, how did this happen for you in the class with your peers that wouldn't have been possible otherwise?

Thanks for sharing your insights. I hope this helps.

  6. Rhiana,

I really enjoyed reading your intro. You provided a great example of why you picked this program and that really did a good job of providing context to the rest of the post. Learning more about emerging technology and social media is a great goal to have in a course like this.

I liked you used of individual twitter posts as examples. Including the goals right below a post looked really good as well. You also mentioned that you were not happy with your traffic from Pinterest. If you had to start over would you have employed any different tactics in particular? That may be a good point to put in your conclusion.

    Great post!

  7. Rhiana,
I definitely think you're off to a great start! I also agree with using your conclusion to draw everything from the class and your professional career together. From what you have now, it looks like you're almost done. One more suggestion I would make is included a few direct quotes from the readings to enhance your story. Overall, it looks great!
